At Bethlehem Landfill, we believe in building a better tomorrow. In doing our part to meet that goal, we have provided funds each year to Lower Saucon Township to help pay for vital public programs and services.
In addition, our business creates local jobs and supports various organizations throughout the community. Below are just a few examples of how Bethlehem Landfill benefits Lower Saucon Township residents.
- Lower Saucon Township’s host agreement with Bethlehem Landfill generates more than $2 million each year to the township’s total annual revenue of $6.1 million.
- According to figures published in The Morning Call (as cited from the 8/8/12 Landfill Funds Report), the township has spent more than $11 million in landfill revenue in the past decade, including $8.5 million to pay off debt, $1.7 million on fire equipment and $1 million on capital expenses.
- In the last decade, Bethlehem Landfill has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to students at Saucon Valley, Southern Lehigh, Bethlehem Catholic, Freedom and Liberty high schools.
- Supports Christmas Promise Bike Build.
- Creates local jobs by hiring contractors, electricians, plumbers, quarry contracts and other area vendors.
- Has made and continues to make charitable donations to more than 40 local organizations, including Saucon Valley Youth Sports Association, Habitat for Humanity, the Hellertown Historical Society, the American Cancer Society’s local Relay For Life event, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Freemansburg Motorcycle Hillclimb and Bike Show, Dewey Fire Company, Steel City Volunteer Fire Company and Lower Saucon Sportsmen Association.
